The symptoms you've described could be panic attacks and they can be caused by any number of things including hypoglycemia, so a trip to your doctor is warranted.

I have (had) panic attacks, but no more. My last one was caused by steroid psychosis, which was treated with/by short term Ativan, which I keep for emergencies, and obviously reducing the steroids. Basically, a panic attack feels like you are terrified, but can't find a good reason to be afraid and is accompanied by rapid heartbeat and shallow rapid breathing. There are many treatments which vary from medication to techniques with are designed to slow down your breathing and your heart rate.

The problem with panic attacks is that they're basically caused by a subconscious assault on a conscious mind, which means that a thought which brings on panic happens so fast that a panic attack seems to hit you without any rhyme or reason. I personally have dealt with them by a combination of medication (Cyproheptadine) and therapy. Good luck.

While you certainly have some sort of a medical issue, it does not sound like any panic attack I have ever experienced.

Panic attacks will make you feel like someone is sitting on your chest, you will experience trouble breathing and hyperventilation will often occur. Panic attacks also tend to induce disassociation, i.e., a feeling that you're not quite attached to your body and the world will seem a bit dreamlike and abstract.

They will also make your heart race and leave you physically tired. Tingling and shaking of the extremities are common as well.

Beyond this, they have powerful psychological effects as well, often giving feelings of losing one's mind as well as sharply reducing cognitive functions.
