Have you ever had a panic attack on a plane?

March 5th, 2009

panic attack
I have flown all over the world but still do not like to fly. I do not like the fact that there are so many people sitting so close together in such a small area for such a long time. It makes me crazy. If the plane is not so full, I am fine but if it is full, I tend to panic during long flights or tarmac delays.

Have you ever had a panic attack while flying due to feeling cramped or just because you were afraid?

Not a true attack but I have been so uncomfortable I just wished I could get off the thing ASAP. I think it’s all that weight and those flimsy wings being propelled up into the air by the sheer power of the jet engines. It just doesn’t feel safe especially when someone else is flying it.

Yes, on one intercontinental flight from Europe back to the States, I couldn’t find my daughter anywhere on the plane. After about a half-hour of searching, the flight crew tried to convince me that my daughter never boarded the plane with me and that I was having a panic attack or a breakdown……

Oh wait, that wasn’t me. That was a movie I saw. I forgot, I’m a pilot and I’ve never had a panic attack. ; )

I had a major panic attack once. I had heard a rumor that the drink cart was not going to come by.

No. I just take my Xanax and chill out.
