Panic attacks can be extremely scary. Try to remember that the sensations you are feeling won't hurt or kill you, and try doing deep breathing to calm down. The problem with panic attacks is that as soon as the first symptoms begin, we get scared and that makes more symptoms which make the fear level climb. They can be controlled with talking yourself through them with calming thoughts. I know what it's like and have learned to control mine over the years. Try doing as much reading about them as possible because education is your best defense.

You also might be hypoglycemic.
Fatigue, insomnia, mental confusion, anxiety, nervousness, mood swings, faintness, headaches, depression, phobias, heart palpitations, a craving for sweets, cold hands and feet, forgetfulness, dizziness, blurred vision, inner trembling, outbursts of temper, sudden hunger, allergies, and crying spells are all symptoms of hypoglycemia.>

It sounds like anxiety and although you do not want to go to a doctor that may be your only way out. If you trying to calm yourself is not helping please go see a professional. It can have so many devastating effects on your head and body. You probably need some medicine and the best place to get it and be monitored is through a healthcare professional.

Direct her to She should learn to practice the breathing method so she is ready, if there is another attack. Nettle tea, or Valerian root helps some who prefer natural products. See (healthinformation/index.cfm) panic attacks, under P.

hi, your friend is fortunate, for the friend she has in you. people generally run from us. as for knowing more about panic attacks, just put that in your search engine and you will get plenty of reading. she blacks out because she is hyperventilating when she's having an attacks. i used to blackout also, until i learned how to breath properly. if she is on an anti-depressants for depression, that's a good thing, but it won't help subdue the panic attacks. other meds are required for them. then if she goes to therapy, she can discover the cause of the attacks, unless she already knows, such as a traumatic event, abuse..etc. then can learn how to control some of the attacks with the hep of this meds. I hope this helped! good luck to you both! :)

Sounds like a panic attack, but one can never be sure. It's anxiety of some sort. a doctor could really help, but eventually you need to learn relaxation techniques that can help you calm down. First, you should relax or meditate for about 10 minutes to 30 minutes a day. Then when these times come, you can call on that reserve of calm and do this. close your eyes and take a slow deep breath. Take another. Say Calm, Cool,Collected. Do that until the feeling passes. Other techniques can be added. There are how to books on relaxation and panic. Good luck.
